Impressive record.. you have a good chance for epfl.. but for more information, contact sriniketh1990.. he is pursuing his phd in chemical engineering at epfl.. plus he was from svce and not from iit or nit!!
all the best!
if you are interested in solar thermal, then go to spain.. though the economic scenario is not that good, their investments and interests in solar field is one of the best in europe...

regarding italy, even though the situation is screwed up; if you get a scholarship then no worries for the next 2 years.. plus you can save something so that you can sustain yourself for couple more months after graduation..

language can be a problem in most of the countries here in europe though the situation is worse in italy and france.. you can still manage with english during your masters in other countries, but it is highly advisable to learn the local language as most of the companies prefer it!!

Currently working as a researcher in bioenergy in Stockholm.!

sriniketh1990 I'm applying for EPFL for Energy management course, Is there any possibility of getting a scholarship. Possibility of doing Phd after Ms with stipend

kvbharadwaj2006Thanks for the reply bro, I know Spain is the hub for solar investments but EPFL offer study in Middle East during the 2nd year. UAE has huge potential in solar thermal and renewable energy. well language is a biggest problem as you said but money is even bigger problem for me Sad So i have selected some univ that has good education as well as funding

Ok ..Salut Gowtham. Yr record is impressive.. Dont wry about not being an IITian or a NITian. Frankly It doesnt matter.

What matters is the Recommendation letters you are going to bring in. And am sure looking at your profile its not gonna be a problem.

Let me Make my reply a bit more comprehensive.

1. I will suggest you come to Europe, only if you have a PhD in mind. Meaning you will be studying for atleast 5 more yrs. If its just MS i wouldnt recommend Europe for you. The Job scenario right now is bad here. In 5 yrs things hopefully will be different.

2. EPFL is a great place to be a student and you will not hate the Experience. Most of the Master students @EPFL find some form of assistantship. So i guess yo stand a good chance.

3. PhD here comes with a guaranteed stipend which is good enough to have a very good life style.

Buzz me with specific questions Smile

sriniketh1990 thanks a ton Very Happy
One more doubt I have very bad Toefl score of 84, In the application process it is quoted that Toefl is not mandatory if my medium of instruction is english for past 10 yrs or so. Should i send my toefl score or not. Since it is low it might create bad impression, or Something is better than nothing(send this low score)

kvbharadwaj2006 I failed to secure ALSP scholarship Sad Anyway I have provided with full fee waiver in KTH. I have applied EPFL as well for the course Energy management and sustainability, Course content so much diverse and concentrating a lot on management (i.e) water resourses, energy, transportation etc with mobility to UAE on the 2 nd year. But KTH provide better course content and project as they have tie up with CSEM, UAE solar project can be done there, EPFL also have tie up with CSEM.
Now the think which one to choose Whether I should by reputation EPFL degree is reputed all over the world, so I do Phd is some big shots. Or I should by Course content and prefer KTH over EPFL. Can you seniors and batch mates help me to decide

Well, for PhD, it's important to take less course and do more research. Reputation of institution is not so important, but professor who will you work with could be important.

I think, in your situation, KTH is preferable.

gowthamtce If you are interested in KTH courses and have received full fee waiver, I don't see any reason to go to EPFL. I don't really think there's much (if any) difference in reputation of EPFL and KTH. Also keep in mind that living expenses are higher in Switzerland compared to Sweden, and there's much less language problem in Sweden just in case if you want to look for jobs after MS.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.
