First of all, congrats!

Completely agree with billa and shottky.. Since you already like the courses and the project work, go to KTH.. a tuition fee waiver is a big plus.. and KTH is not that bad after all Razz..

on a different note, i would be going to KTH next year as part of the mobility of my program.. hope to see you there.. all the best!

I have applied EPFL as well for the course Energy management and sustainability, Course content so much diverse and concentrating a lot on management (i.e) water resourses, energy, transportation etc with mobility to UAE on the 2 nd year. But KTH provide better course content and project as they have tie up with CSEM, UAE solar project can be done there, EPFL also have tie up with CSEM.
Now the think which one to choose Whether I should by reputation EPFL degree is reputed all over the world, so I do Phd is some big shots. Or I should by Course content and prefer KTH over EPFL. Can you seniors and batch mates help me to decide

billa Thanks for the guidance, About living expenses I'm expecting a scholarship from EPFL which covers the living expenses as well. And waiting for SI scholarship results as well.
schottky What do you mean by less course and more research, KTH has very relevant course compared to EPFL, I need contact a prof there for doing research from the 1st year onwards, hope Andrew martin accept me Very Happy
kvbharadwaj2006 Yeah I'm planning to goto KTH probably, sure we will meet this fall Smile

gowthamtce the key point is research, not courses. But if there is no "superstar" professors at EPFL in your area, or no possibility to work with them, that means KTH is best for you. If there is a good professor at KTH you can work with, it is double good.

schottky Well, Director of Sustainable energy engineering course works on my field, Where as in EPFL, Not much research in solar. They concentrated more on wind so I feel KTH will be my destination.

schottky Yeah most of my seniors advice me in the same way. They asked me give priority to the course and only 2nd priority to the University. So KTH as of now!! Still waiting a dual degree program offered KIT, Germany, KTH, Sweden, UPC, Spain. Smile

Certainly I got full fee waiver from KTH for the course sustainable energy, I have applied for a fully funded (both living and tuition similar to Erasmus) dual degree program on Energy technologies.
1st year should be either IST, Lisbon or KIT, Germany
2nd Year should chosen between IST, KIT and KTH Sweden
What I'm planning is 1st in KIT and 2nd yr in KTH, But my senior ask me go to Germany on the second year as it has huge opportunities for Job. So he asks me to take 1st year in IST and 2nd year in KIT. Whats your take on it, I have thoughts of doing Ph.D in the corner of my mind as well. Kindly suggest which is better, If i join KTH as full time student I need spend 10lakhs, it might cause burden if i dont get jobs and Ph.D admit. I do have EPFL results pending It is also a fully funded course 1st year in Swiss and 2nd yr in UAE. 2nd yr was the problem is it possible to return back to europe for finding job or research or This leads to finish my career in UAE itself Sad
anjanakarthik
JT_daniel Whether KIT is good university, they dint ask my CV, SOP, Recommendation letters for evaluation. Only thing they ask for is Transcripts I don't have decent CGPA. How they will evaluate people only based on marks. Whether Research prospects is good there?

Well, First of all, if you have chance to study for free, you should avail that. About second year in Germany or in Sweden. Well, I'd advice you not to worry about countries, just see what you want to study in second year and go where they are offering it. Sweden, Germany all are good, you will get opportunities everywhere if you just work hard. Don't pick the country just because of jobs.

Well, about moving from UAE. You can not move just to look for jobs or research, you need to have job offer or any other reason to apply for residence permit.

And yes, many European universities do not ask for CV, SOP and recommendation letters. It does not mean they are not good.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

in middle east you need to find a sponsor for your work permit otherwise you will have to go back to India, work experience or contacts/reference alone can help in middle east...

adityanisal Mine was delivered, actually she won't reply soon. In my case they replied after 2 weeks. No need to worry, well what is your area of interest (solar, thermal, biomass etc ). I just had a look at your edulix profile as you're from Electronic background and this program accepts ppl with mech, electrical and chemical background, Why did you applied for this program? . I don't even understand the evaluation procedure of ENTECH, As they asked for Transcripts, Course content and language proficiency.
billa If i get both offers from EPFL (1st year in Swiss and 2nd year in UAE) and Energy technologies (1st year in KIT and 2nd year in Sweden) They didn't mentioned about what to study in 2nd year and mobility based on that. Actually while applying this program was jointly organised by 7 universities including UPC Barcelona, Uppasala, KU Lueven, Grenoble. now it is reduced to 3 universities.
So if i get full scholarship in this course I should avail it. Is it possible to do Ph.D in KTH after this course, Assuming my 2nd year in KTH. After completing the dual degree
Confusion is that I have been admitted with 100% fee waiver in KTH for 2 year program on sustainable energy, Now this Energy technologies program has slight less depth in course content, but universities are good. based on your advise if i get full scholarship from KIT and KTH joint program, then I will avail that.
One more thing is If I dont get KIT program but got full scholarship in EPFL UAE program, Then should I prefer that or KTH-2year course.

gowthamtce About PhD in KTH. Dual degree won't stop you from anything, but being at KTH during 2nd year or even two full years wont automatically give you a PhD position, it will depend on your results and thesis etc.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.
