If you have got scholarship for EIT, you should go for it. Don't worry about the reputation of the course, at the end the degree awarding university is same, and you will study same courses.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

I received first year course for Embedded Systems at TU Berlin recently. I'd asked for the same through a mail. It seems to be a basic course with all the necessary subjects covered for specialization in second year. But no mention of any course from embedded controls was there. That concerns me now..Sad but KTH is too expensive, where I can choose Embedded Controls as a specialization. So again confused to the core.Sad

Hi billa,

I read your univ specific thread abt chalmers and it says there is no need to have swedish language knowledge for either the course or the job.
Is the case same in germany and Finland? Or german is must to study there?

Well.. you don't need Swedish for the studies, but if you want to apply for jobs then the language gives you very much advantage. If you don't know language, you are restricted to the english speaking jobs only, which are very limited so it will be hard and will take time.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

ok, so the case is same as Germany is that case right?
Actually I'm in a fix due to course at this stage. I received EIT ICT courses for 1st year embedded system course a week ago. The are good. I mean sufficient to fulfil requirements for specializations in second year but they don't have many courses offered at KTH. KTH basically has embedded controls & robotics as specialization which was my first choice (i got interested in ES due to robotics) and EIT masters doesn't have it.
But now, I haven't got KTH fee waiver or scholarship..Sad Hence i'm not able to decide about the univ.
What kind of pay will I get after MS from KHT? Rough idea would be enough. I just wanted to know will it be comparable to the US. i.e will i be able to repay the loan in 1 or 2 years? If yes, I think KTH will be better option for me. BUt if not, I cannot afford to pay 30L and wont get any impressive returns.

billa, Sorry to bombard you with so many questions.Smile

ashu.soman If i understood correctly, you dont need to pay any tuition fees for the EIT but have to pay full fees for the KTH master degree. If thats the case, then how about if you take EIT, complete first year in Germany and during second year at KTH, you can pick courses of your choice as optional courses? Usually the master programs are flexible and allow you to take about 30 - 45 optional credits, although I don't know EIT masters degree structure.

I don't know if its good idea to go to KTH on loan, anyway its your decision. The starting salary is usually between 25K to 35K SEK/month.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

billa,
I need to pay tuition fees for EIT too. But it is less. 8000 EUR/year. The scholarship only provides me stipend of 700 EUR/month. It still is very cheap as compared to KTH. (KTH - 30L odd INR including living and EIT 10-11L INR ans i'll get stipend for living.)
And the cours structure of EIT is such that you need to pick or rather allotted specialization, available at particular univ. I ca take only those specialization. And doing it as an extra course is i don't think a good idea as the main purpose won't serve i.e. looking a job in robotics. Maybe in control systems or cameras n etc.

Also, EIT is also not a bad course. It covers all the imp aspects of ES. I think i'll have to work out my priority and maybe let go my favorite subject.
i'll try to work it out..Smile

Thanks..Smile

ashu.soman yes, since the KTH is 3 times expensive, you should seriously consider the EIT. Good luck.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.
