DESCRIPTION RECOMMENDED BY
Coursera-Basic German
LEARNING/GRAMMAR
A basic German course is being offered on Coursera by UPenn. For those who are not familiar with MOOCs, it is an online course which is free and aimed at unlimited participation. You only need a laptop and an internet connection. But be aware, you need to have sufficient dedication to plough through the course which usually includes weekly assignments and tests. Lecture videos are generally uploaded once a week and they are of very short durations.
It takes place from 6th Oct to 17th Nov.

Learn German, Michel Thomas method
LEARNING/GRAMMAR
The first and foremost rule of this teacher is that we should not memorize anything and refrain from taking any notes. Just listen to him and he will take the full responsibility of teaching. His method goes like this. He will be teaching two other English speaking students who have no knowledge of the language. He asks them to repeat a English statement in German, and wants us to pause and answer it before the students answer. Once the student responds, maybe with some mistakes, Michael will correct him/her and repeat the statement. We gradually learn from their mistakes. He will introduce you to new vocabulary as he progresses, sometimes with how it is actually linked with the Romanic/West Germanic Language, it helps to grasp the language step by step in real time conditions. You really should stop depending on these Translate engines now that you've started learning the language. However, sometimes when you've almost figured out the structure of the sentences, these can help determine whether you're on the right track. In my experience, use Bing for whole sentences. Bing understands German grammar better than Google. For single words and slang/colloquial terms use Google. antidive

Edulix_Editor Sir, please pardon the usage of HTML within the post! However, the extensive list of resources called for a table and I just could not resist Very Happy

antidive: Wow... Look at you!!! Awesome job!!! Thank you very much.

Rogue: Can we make this a sticky post?

I would like to add this:

Title of Resource:: Learn German, Michel Thomas method
Link to Resource: It is paid and you'll have to find it on your own Embarassed
Type of Resource: Tools, Audio Lessons
Description: : The first and foremost rule of this teacher is that we should not memorize anything and refrain from taking any notes (Easy no? Laughing ). Just listen to him and he will take the full responsibility of teaching.
His method goes like this. He will be teaching two other English speaking students who have no knowledge of the language. He asks them to repeat a English statement in German, and wants us to pause and answer it before the students answer. Once the student responds, maybe with some mistakes, Michel will correct him/her and repeat the statement. We gradually learn from their mistakes. He will introduce you to new vocabulary as he progresses, sometimes with how it is actually linked with the Romanic/West Germanic Language, it helps to grasp the language step by step in real time conditions. The Michel Thomas Audio course to be extremely fun and easy way of learning the language.

I used to listen to that for half an hour daily when traveling in bus from my residence to work
Don't know how credible people generally consider the course to be but I really liked it and learnt a lot from it...

Want to recommend this website but I don't think it qualifies as a "Learning" resource strictly.
E.g: http://www.itchyfeetcomic.com/2013/09/vi..._3Z8zKSzHs

Title of Resource: Itchy Feet
Link to Resource: http://www.itchyfeetcomic.com/
Type of Resource: Comic for language learners
