|whisky||Awesome for CS. Strategically located, very close to NY and a comparabily less expensive place to live (but mind you , not cheap). CS department is well funded. All seniors have some funding. A very research oriented department. Great ties with the industry. Google, Amazon, Accenture and ASK are regular recruiters. The founder of askjeeves.com (Gerousoulis) is a proffessor at Rutgers. The Theory department is rated as one of the finest. PhD students over here are invited to Berkley and Caltech to complete thier post docs. The systems departments is overshadowed by the Theory department, but is nevertheless very active in research. A lot of CS department material powers the famous WinLab.
Plenty of oncampus jobs. Almost 4000 acres of lush green campus ( a car helps, but not necessary since we have a bus service operated by Rutgers for free for the general public). One very awesome football team. Lots of recreational activities (You can choose from almost 300, examples, swimming , salsa, tai chi, etc. A very enthu desi crowd, so lots of fests like diwali , dandiya et al. ) A very long history and a rich heritage. Average tuition costs (24,000$ for 2 years).
All in all, a very good university.
