avnish AFAIK, you need to have your personal account where only you can withdraw the money, but please confirm it from embassy.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

billa For wire transferring the fee to Chalmers, the bank here in India is asking for a account name at the destination. The invoice given by Chalmers mentions IBAN number, SWIFT/BIC number, bank name and address but there is no account name mentioned.

Had any one attempted wire transferring ?

Frankenstein No I have not transferred anything to Chalmers. I think when you have IBAN and Swift/BIC code, normally account name is not required, it should automatically detect the account name with the IBAN number. But since your bank is asking for it, you should ask from Chalmers, so that there is no any problem in transaction.

I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.

thanks billa, i had sent a email to Chalmers regarding the same.
Quote:Payment by credit card
Payment can be made online from the portal by card (MasterCard,Visa). When possible we recommend payment by credit card. The amount will be debited to your card immediately and the payment registered as In progress. You can follow the status of the payment and see when the amount is received and registered at Chalmers.
Payment by (bank) wire transfer

By this do they mean, i can use a debit card [Mastercard] to pay the fee. The problem with credit card is, the credit limit. In most of the e-commerce websites when say say credit card is accepted, it is a kind of default that debit card is also accepted. whats your call on this ? Smile

Frankenstein Yes, if you have 'MasterCard' credit or debit, it should be accepted. Only 'Maestro' will not work.

billa Can you please tell me approximately how long will take for the residence permit to be approved?. I m waiting for admits from other countries. Since I ve been accepted on a full scholarship in Linkoping for MS in CS, I don't want to take a risk by applying late.

nmkumar89 It can take up to 10 weeks, so you should apply as soon as possible.

Hi

I havnt yet applied through the online systems as I havnt yet received the SI schol offer.

I should receive it in a couple of days.

I hope it wont be too late as I would apply just after I have all the documents.

Is applying through the online portal our first step?

What should be done next after applying online? Should I go to the embassy with all the original docs and identify myself just after submitting my online application?

I'm trying to apply through the online portal. But there isn't enough space provided in the Residential Address field to fill out my entire address. Anyone else have the same problem or is it just me?

sachin5101985 avnish darklift Hi Guys, I went for VI day before yesterday [Wednesday] I didn't apply online. I Filled the 10351 form, had all the supporting docs as mentioned in the 1st post of this thread. Scheduled an appointment 3 days before by calling the consulate reception at chennai. And went for VI. To be precise it was not a VI at all. It was informal. Here is how it went

M = Me
L = Lady at the consulate, [Indian]

My appointment was at 10am, but as the consulate is located in one of the busiest roads in Chennai, i decided to start very early; But to my surprise hardly there was any traffic. so reached the consulate at 8:45am. Obviously no one was there, had a chit chat with the security guy, later after 9am when the Consul officer came in, they gave a folder to submit the docs, DD, Certificates, Photos etc. Once i arranged everything in the folder, the security passed it to the lady, after few minutes i was called in

As i was the first person, they called me way early, i went in by 9:15am

M - Hi, Mam, Good Morning
L - Hi, Good Morning, so you are Sathya Prakash, the one who called 3 days ago [I was calling them frequently for enquires Very Happy]
M - yeah *with a broad smile*
L - Okay there are few minor corrections to be done on your 10351 form
[I forgot to write N.A in fields which were left blank by me]
L - *After looking at the folder* Your Third semester Mark sheets are missing
M - *with a *word censored by forum* look* No mam, i checked it well, its there
L - Sorry, its the second semester mark sheet which is missing
M - For 2007-2011 Engg batch in Anna University we had Annual Pattern for the First Year.
L - So you mean to say you had a single exam at the end of the year
M - Absolutely
L - This is the first time i'm seeing such a thing
M - Yes mam, and this will be the last time too, because the Govt Scrapped that plan from 2008.
L - oh. okay that's fine.
L - what is your dad doing ?
M - Told
L - Any Siblings ?
M- Told
L - Naive Place ?
M - Told
L - Who is sponsoring you for this education ?
M - My Dad and i've got a 75% fee waiver from Chalmers.
L - Oh that's fine. So what are you doing Now ?
M - Working in xxyy Software company.
L - So when will you resign ?
M - Notice period for resignation is 1 month, so i'll resign by july
L - Do you have a appointment letter or sort of something ?
M - Yeah *passed it to her, it was some 15 pages and she took a xerox of first page alone*
L - Okay *returns the original degree certificates, passports etc* You will get your Residence permit in Minimum 7 Weeks, before that you will get a call from Swedish Embassy in Delhi, after which you ought to go there with your passport and give your Bio Metric Finger Prints after which you will receive your Residence Permit card
you can choose to collect it from here or we will courier you.
M - Thank You, Mam
L - Thank you and Good Luck for your studies at Chalmers

Overall, it was much Informal, the lady there was so cool, i was kinda speaking by leaning over the table.
All the best guys Very Happy
ps: sry for the delay in posting this, Had loads of work to be done yesterday.
